2019 Trends in Men's Fashion: What To Expect

2019 Trends in Men's Fashion: What To Expect

The fashion industry is worth $2.4 trillion. It has been one of the most successful industries ever, booming even when the rest of the economy is lagging.

While most of us think of womenswear when we think about high fashion, men have their place firmly in it as well. And after the debut of a variety of spring/summer 2019 collections, we've got a good idea of what's going to hit shelves this coming year.

Read on for some of the top 2019 trends in men's fashion.

Cowboy Boots

Cowboy boots have lost functionality for most of us, but they have their day again every once in a while in the form of men's fashion. Remember when urban cowboys were a thing? Well, brace yourself, they're coming back.

The 2019 previews have shown that cowboy boots are making a strong comeback, though some of them have a modern twist. While the classic will always be a classic for obvious reasons, you'll also get the low-top cowboy boot. Think of it as a Converse low-top to the cowboy boot's high-top.

Saddle up, boys, because 2019 is bringing the old west back!

Short Shorts

Okay, it's still freezing and most of us are thinking about what to wear to keep us warm this winter. But if you're thinking ahead to April or May, you'll want to get used to the idea of short shorts.

Remember that Nair commercial with the insufferably catchy jingle, "Who wears short shorts?"

Of course, the answer was women who use their product to have smooth legs. But now, men are joining their ranks, or at least the ones who dare.

Short shorts on men were, of course, a thing in the 1970s. And now, they're back on the runway. So tone those thighs and pull out those tube socks. Short shorts are here to rock.

Cycling Glasses

You may have noticed that the last decade has brought some rather unfavorable trends from the 1980s and 1990s back. Well, it looks like 2019 is joining in and resurrecting the bicycling glasses. The functional yet sleek glasses will be joining the runway look this year, and you'll see them on everyone come the summer.

Of course, if you already cycle, then you're probably already in fashion with the pair you already use. Now, you can wear them with your everyday look and claim you're in fashion.

Or, you can plop down several hundred dollars for a designer version of the sunnies. Fashion knows no bounds.

Odd Tailoring

A well-tailored suit doesn't go out of style. And we recommend investing in an expensive one that you have altered to fit you exactly to ensure that you look the part for all of your biggest occasions.

But 2019 isn't just seeing a well-tailored suit, but instead, oddly tailored suits. For example, a suit with a button placed in a different location and altering the shape of the suit, or tailored so that you have fabric draping.

It's one of the more avant-garde trends of the year, so it'll be interesting to see how many men actually go for it in terms of streetwear.

If you're brave enough, you might want to give it a try.

Dad Sneakers

You totally know the ones we're talking about. The ones your dad rocked, or perhaps still does. The white shoes that you can get at the likes of Walmart or Costco are hitting the runway, with a major price point.

So, if your partner or kids have been making fun of you for your dad shoes, you can now show them that you're actually in style now.

Or, if you want to experiment with them, you can purchase some for yourself. Though, again, this might be one of the trends you'd rather leave in the '90s.

Dad Jeans

Along with the dad sneakers come the dad jeans. If your dad wore these in the 1990s and you're the same fit, it might be worth it to raid his closet for his dad jeans. Hey, you might be surprised to find out that your dad invested in some high-quality dad jeans you weren't even aware of when you were a kid.

And they'll be vintage to boot.

Or, you can go with the new and try on a new pair for yourself. Make sure you get a leg with a wide and relaxed fit.

Neon

So far as we know, hypercolors haven't made their way back to the runway, but neon definitely has. If you loved the highlighter yellow or green outfits of yore, you'll be a la mode this season. One great thing about all of these vintage-themed outfits returning is that you might be able to dig them out of your old closet and wear items you never thought would see the light of day again. Or, go to your local second-hand store and score yourself some vintage items.

2019 Trends in Men's Fashion

These are just some of the trends coming in hot from the runway at this year's fashion shows. As time marches on, they'll be even more things for you to choose from. But one thing is certain in 2019 trends in men's fashion: the 1990s are having their day. So if it was one of your best times in life, you'll get to wax nostalgia and be in style at the same time.
